WAIMEA OUTDOOR CIRCLE’S
17th ANNUAL PLANT SALE
Saturday, March 29th, 2008, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Thelma Parker Memorial Gym
This year a new and
convenient venue has been selected - the centrally located Thelma
Parker Gymnasium. In addition to the gym itself, a large tent will
be set up to accommodate 23 local growers. The hours of operation
will be 8:00 - 2:00. This highly popular sale, is a “once in a
year” opportunity to spruce up your landscaping. Please mark your
calendars!
Vendors will be offering a
wide variety of plants especially selected for our Waimea locale:
orchids, fruit trees, bedding plants, succulents, air plants, herbs,
day lilies, bamboo, palms, fruit trees, vireya, protea and hanging
baskets. Due to popular demand we have asked those vendors growing
natives to redouble their efforts. All vendors spend the day at
their booths so you can get the answers to all your gardening
questions from the experts. WOC will again staff its “plant
doctor” table with several knowledgeable people including Waimea
Nature Park Manager, newly on board, Barrie Moss, the previous Park
Manager Scott Voorhies and WNP board member Roz Wright.
Additionally Waimea
Outdoor Circle and Waimea Nature Park t-shirts and tote bags will be
for sale as will be native poha jelly, made by a volunteer, from
berries harvested in the Nature Park. There will also be a WOC
membership table where you can join this active group for an
individual cost of $25.00 a year. Waimea Nature Park will have a
display manned by Park Chair Carol Hendricks and other advisory
board members.
Waimea Outdoor Circle will
be celebrating its 20th birthday in 2009, and will also be
celebrating the Waimea Nature Park’s 10th year in July of the same
year. Funds from this annual plant sale go to support our many
community beautification projects with the goal of keeping Waimea
clean, green and beautiful.
