18th Annual WOC Plant Sale The annual plant sale, Waimea Outdoor Circle’s major event of the year is scheduled for Saturday, April 4th. This year’s venue will again be the Thelma Parker Gymnasium in Waimea during the final weekend of spring break. Plant chair, Dodie Zuke, reports that twenty-four vendors from all over the Island will have their finest plants available for sale. Great care has been taken to have a wide variety of prime plants available. The emphasis this year is on native plants that will grow well in our Waimea environment. In order to conduct a truly successful sale, Ken Block, chair of the volunteers, has put out a call for “all hands” to help. We need volunteers to help with many tasks during the set-up day, Friday the 3rd, and even more for the sale day, Saturday the 4th! Volunteers are needed: to assist in setting up; to take the pre-sale inventory; to oversee parking; to provide crowd control and security; to greet customers; to work in the plant holding area; to pre-check customer’s purchases; to cashier; to conduct the post-sale inventory and, of course, to help with the inevitable “clean-up!” Note: All volunteers are eligible to attend the fabulous “Friday night pre-sale!” Avoid the crowds, get first pick of this season’s plants! Volunteer today! WOC is “an equal opportunity organization: you don’t have to be a member and most positions do not require prior experience! Try it, you’ll like it!
