Wifi in the ParkThe Waimea Nature Park, Ulu La’au, now has WIFI capability at most of the picnic tables. Bring your laptop and your lunch and have peaceful lunch in the Park while catching up on correspondence or just surfing the web. Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, our immediate neighbor, has installed an antenna on their maintenance building and is beaming the signal to WOC’s little green office in the Park. Since this is not a secure site, we would suggest you not do any banking or Internet ordering from the Park. But please come and use this new “Hot Spot” in Waimea. Waimea Nature Park is a project of Waimea Outdoor Circle, completely developed and maintained by volunteers. The Park is located directly behind Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope’s offices off Mamalahoa Hwy. Just follow the Hawaiian warrior sign down the no name road beside CFHT’s large lawn. The Park is open during daylight hours, and closes promptly at 5:30 with the entrance being locked with a chain. There are information sheets on display around the park telling of upcoming events, volunteer days and people to contact for further information. There is a Dogi pot; for your dog’s waste, a portable lua, a rubbish can and 3 recycling cans. And soon we will have a receptacle with a self-guiding brochure to help you identify the various native plants in the Park. Look for it near the office. Bring your own laptop! E komo mai! |
